This really is the future of fixing everything
I’m a little bit in love and I don’t mind shouting about it.
As the secretary here, I love DIY but I must admit I’m no good at it. I put the projects into words, and make sure they have pretty images while our DD Men use their handyman and crafty women skills.
BUT I’ve found a product that allows me to fix a number of things beautifully and it’s become a staple of the kitchen drawer in our house now.
It’s SUGRU. Here’s my SUGRU review.
What is SUGRU?
I won’t pretend to know the chemistry behind the magic substance but SUGRU is a pliable, soft putty type material that can be moulded to anything. For instance around wires. handles, bolts, while it’s tacky nature means it can also stick to plates, counters, gutters, you name it, SUGRU does it.
That’s not the brilliant part. Once you’ve played with the putty and got it in the position you’d like it to be, it dries, but not like other substances. It dries into a waterproof, solid, bendable rubber that fixes, protects, enhances and repairs almost anything.
My First Use
I first used it in the summer while I was cutting the lawn outside. The lead to the lawnmower had seen better days and every time I moved it out of the way I was treated to an electric shock. I remembered I had this new wonder product and so turned off the lawnmower to give it a go.
I moulded it round the splits in the wires and as it was black the repairs were invisible. I then left it overnight, in a cold shed. The next morning the wire was as good as new and almost a year later it still is, all thanks to wonderful Sugru.
Since then I actually panic if I run out as it’s great for many projects, from filling small holes to replacing nails and bolts, to filling in gaps and even repairing my car cup holder. I’ve used it to add grips to utensils, add extra handles to toys, cushion plates from clattering together and to stop cups leaving rings on wooden surfaces.
It’s also dishwasher safe.
I’m sure there’s a million more uses and I’ve heard they’ve teamed up with Lego for some, for me, Lego’s biggest fan, this is a match made in heaven. Find out more here!
